My name is KC Courtland, and I make my home in Northern California, where I earn a living as a substitute teacher and spend the rest of my time lost in stories ... sometimes the ones I read, sometimes the ones I write. A lifelong lover of words, I focus on literary fiction, creative nonfiction, and contemporary fiction. I'm drawn to the quiet dramas of everyday life, exploring the ways ordinary moments reveal extraordinary truths.

Away from the page, I'm an enthusiastic but unskilled painter, a yoga dabbler, and a devoted cat companion to Mister Peach Fuzz and Miss Thang (aren't they adorable!). I find inspiration in art, nature, and the rhythms of daily living with my loving spouse.

Teaching keeps me connected to curiosity and imagination, qualities I strive to carry into my writing. Above all, I believe stories have the power to connect us, to make us pause, reflect, and see the world with new eyes.
